Accepting Christ Jesus as our teacher and model and being rooted in the charism of the RNDM’s, we, the sisters, in our education apostolate aim at the integral growth of our students, by forming them to be men and women for others, to become persons of competence, conscience and compassionate commitment, and agents of building a just and humane society.
Our mission is to form young men and women to unfold their potentials to the full, for themselves and for others, who will then distinguish themselves by their academic excellence, sound character, spirit of selfless service, and leadership qualities. They will commit themselves to the task of ushering in the much needed radical transformation of present day social conditions and, thus, contribute towards building a just and eco-friendly humane society, where genuine freedom, equality of opportunities and respect for religious, moral and social values found in the Gospels and enshrined in the Constitution of India will prevail.
Our aims and objectives can only be realized in a school climate where “affirmation, reverence and service should mark the relationship that exists not only between the students and teachers but among all members of the school community. Ideally RNDM schools should be places where people are believed in, honoured and cared for – where the natural talents and creative abilities of persons are recognized and celebrated ; where individual contributions and accomplishments are appreciated; where everyone is treated fairly and justly; where sacrifice on behalf of the economically poor, the socially deprived and educationally disadvantaged is common place; where each one of us finds the challenge, encouragement and support we need to reach our fullest individual potential for excellence; where we help one another and work with enthusiasm and generosity, attempting to model concretely in word and action the ideals we uphold for our students and ourselves.”
The basic aim may be further specified in the following ways:
Foundress
EUPHRASIE BARBIER
1861, France
The Congregation of Our Lady of the Missions was founded by Euphrasie Barbier (Mother Mary of the Heart of Jesus) in Lyons, France, in 1861 with the sole purpose of proclaiming the value of the Kingdom to all people of good will. At present, the Sisters have reached out to 28 countries in the world, and work mainly among the poor, marginalised and the working class people of the area where they are present. After the example of the Foundress, the Sisters place themselves at God’s disposal in order to be the instruments of the Kingdom Values of justice, peace and communal harmony. The Sisters strive to proclaim the values of the Kingdom by their way of life, and by their availability to be at the service of the poor and the needy through various activities such as Formal and Non-formal Education, Health care, Social Action Programmes, Pastoral Care and others. In all forms of Educational undertakings we recognize the special importance of Schools. Therefore, wherever desirable, we establish and maintain Schools, respecting different cultures, ancestral traditions and artistic expressions of each nation and ethnic group.
